Ponape Intermediate School opened its term with 116 students, 20 of them girls, its largest enrollment yet.

What happened

The District Administrator noted that the Intermediate School was now staffed and run by Pohnpeians. It had enrolled more students than its budget could feed, so the Education Department asked the municipalities and outer islands to donate surplus food.
