What happened
The National Register lists Nan Madol, on the east side of Temwen Island, for its engineering, architecture and political significance, and names Olosohpa and Olosihpa, the legendary builders, as its “architects.” Smithsonian archaeologists had excavated there in 1963 with help from the Metalanim Housing Co-operative, which cleared vegetation.
