Former second president John Haglelgam dies in Honolulu.

What happened

Haglelgam, born on Eauripik in Yap’s outer islands, entered Congress as a write-in winner in 1979 and served as the second president from 1987 to 1991. Afterwards he taught at the College of Micronesia-FSM, led the 2001 Constitutional Convention and co-wrote an early draft of the first national history textbook.
