US Defense Department gives notice of an environmental impact statement for upgrades to Yap’s airport and seaport.

What happened

The study covers the Yap airport and seaport projects that grew out of the March 2025 Hegseth–Simina meeting, which announced $400 million for the airport. The Yap projects later stalled over a compensation dispute in 2026.
