John Hall’s Lady Blackwood sights Chuuk’s high islands and the low atolls later called the Hall Islands.

What happened

John Hall’s Lady Blackwood, sailing from Calcutta to Mexico, sighted Chuuk’s high islands and then a cluster of low islands, actually Nomwin and Murilo, which European charts later called the Hall Islands. Only one European ship is known to have entered the lagoon before this, Manuel Dublon’s San Antonio in 1814, and almost no record of that visit survives.
