The Lyra sights Puluwat; islanders bring fish and coconuts out by canoe.
What happened
The Sydney whaling bark Lyra named Puluwat “Enderby Island.” Hezel counts at least 12 documented whaleship sightings or landfalls at Chuuk and nearby atolls between 1824 and 1834, but such visits fell off sharply after 1835.
