What happened

The men picked up came from the Warren whaleship Boy, whose captain, Obed Luce, and a boat crew of five had been killed on Pingelap in January, reportedly because Luce had not paid islanders for provisions a year before. The MicSem list does not say the Boy itself was wrecked.
