The Susanne lands a trader on Ta and seeks 80 laborers for Samoa.

What happened

The German brig Susanne picked up a white trader at Ta, in Satawan Atoll, and went on to Lukunor and Satawan to find 80 laborers for plantations in Samoa. Hezel says a German labor ship took Mortlockese to Samoa for five years of indentured work; some returned within a year or two, others not until 1881.
