Morning Star III reports Kosrae’s population at 400.

What happened

The missionary ship Morning Star III, under Captain A. D. Colcord, reported Kosrae’s population at 400 and wrote that “the king is friendly, as those in authority under him.” The figure is close to the 397 counted in 1874, after decades of decline from disease.
