A decree divides the Caroline Capuchin mission into eastern and western parts.
What happened
The decree split the mission to match Spain’s two civil districts, with a superior and a mission center at each seat of government, Yap in the west and Pohnpei in the east. Both superiors answered to Fr. Joaquín de Llevaneras, head of the Capuchins’ overseas missions, who traveled with the first friars.
