Fewer than 100 Pohnpeians have been baptized Catholic.
What happened
Conversion was slow on Pohnpei, where half the people already belonged to Protestant churches when Spain arrived. That changed from 1894, when chiefs in the north asked for missions; by the end of 1897 high chiefs of every chiefdom except Madolenihmw had become Catholic and baptisms passed 100 a year.
