A Japanese squadron takes possession of Chuuk; the head of the German station surrenders.

What happened

When the Japanese squadron arrived, Catholic priest Fr. Ignatius watched as the head of the German station surrendered Chuuk. All German officials were soon taken off the islands, but the missionaries were at first allowed to keep working.
