A sixth administrative district is created, headquartered on Yap.
What happened
The navy had first organized the islands into five districts, with garrisons at Saipan, Palau, Truk, Ponape and Jaluit. The new sixth district gave Yap its own headquarters. Garrison commanders were told to follow established German practice as far as military needs allowed and, in particular, to respect the authority of local chiefs.
