FSM History

A Japanese school opens at Palikir, renamed Haruki (春来) in 1939.

What happened

The Palikir school served the children of Japanese farming settlers; Japanese and islander children were schooled separately. Japanese Wikipedia says it began as a branch of the Ponape elementary school and became independent in 1936. The settlement it served was later known as Haruki.
