The Imperial Japanese Navy stations a garrison on Pohnpei for the first time.

What happened

Japan had withdrawn its naval garrisons, including Pohnpei’s, by March 1922 under the mandate terms. Japanese Wikipedia says a garrison returned in 1940 and a full naval guard unit followed in 1942 to help protect the main base at Truk.
