Truk, Ponape and Jaluit branches merge into the Eastern Branch at Truk; Ponape becomes a sub-office.

What happened

The merger was part of a wartime reorganization that reduced the Nan’yō-chō’s six branches to three. That year the islands returned to military-led administration, and the regional headquarters moved from Palau to Chuuk. Ponape became a sub-office of the Eastern Branch on Truk.
