US air missions against Woleai, starting 1 April 1944.

What happened

Woleai had a Japanese airfield and seaplane anchorage, garrisoned by army and navy units. Building the airfield displaced Woleai residents to other islands. According to Japanese officers quoted by Habele, the garrison suffered regular bombing for 15 months.
