The college became the College of Micronesia system (COM-FSM catalog dating; Wikipedia gives 1976 merger or 1978 corporation).

What happened

The COM-FSM catalog dates the College of Micronesia system to 1975. Wikipedia gives two other accounts: a 1976 merger of the Community College of Micronesia with the Micronesian Occupational College in Palau, or a 1978 act of the Congress creating a public corporation. The sources do not settle the date.
