Cholera outbreak, spread by funeral feasts: 2,207 treated, 512 admitted, 15 suspected deaths.

What happened

The first patients were admitted in mid-April, and the outbreak grew after the death of a high-ranking Kitti chief on 27 April was followed by days of funeral feasting and sakau drinking. A Guam lab confirmed cholera on 8 May. Schools and sakau bars were closed, and health officials said later spikes followed funerals.
