Legislature removes Governor Henry Falan for “malfeasance and misfeasance”; Lt. Gov. Jesse Salalu takes over (29 Dec).

What happened

The legislature voted 8–2 to remove Falan, after an earlier attempt failed. The move followed his 16 September order temporarily closing the Office of the Attorney General. His lawyer asked the FSM Supreme Court to overturn the removal, and the court denied the motion.
