VP Yosiwo George dies in office (13 Aug); Aren Palik of Kosrae becomes VP (13 Sep).

What happened

George’s public career began as Kosrae’s first lieutenant governor in 1979; he was governor from 1983 to 1991 and vice president from 2015. Congress chose Palik, Kosrae’s at-large senator, to fill the vacancy, keeping the vice presidency with Kosrae.
