In Guam, Hegseth and Simina hold the first bilateral of the new US administration; $400M announced for the Yap airport.
What happened
It was the first high-level FSM-US meeting under the second Trump administration. The US Air Force planned $400 million to upgrade Yap’s airport for military aircraft, part of a larger US investment in Yap that the source puts at both “at least” and “up to” $2 billion. Simina said the work would respect Yap’s customs, traditional leaders and its “Four Pillars.”
