The John Bull logs ten desertions at Kosrae.
What happened
The Sydney whaleship John Bull lost ten crewmen who deserted on Kosrae. In the early 1830s Kosrae and Pohnpei were the only Caroline islands where communities of white residents, most of them escaped convicts or deserters from Sydney ships, grew up on shore. MicSem’s ship list dates this visit to August or September 1830 rather than late 1830.
