Chuukese board the Peru to trade and are frightened by its hogs.

What happened

The Salem bark Peru, under John Eagleston, was hunting bêche-de-mer. From the Chuukese’s uneasy behavior and fear of the ship’s hogs, which they had evidently never seen, its captain judged that they had had “little or no intercourse with other nations.”
