What happened

Sydney newspapers, angry at the conduct of former convicts from their colony living on Pohnpei and Kosrae, had demanded that a warship act. The order went not to a British ship but to the US expedition ship Peacock, whose commander dropped the plan to “break up the nest of rogues” for lack of time.
