What happened

The Salem trading bark Samos had called at Pingelap and Mokil, where its crew found the people “very friendly & good natured,” before anchoring in Pohnpei’s “weather harbour.” Madolenihmw was one of Pohnpei’s five independent chiefdoms, each with its own paramount chief.
