The whaler Lexington wrecks on a Kosrae reef; some crew build a vessel and sail to Hong Kong.
What happened
The Nantucket whaler Lexington had taken on new crew at Kosrae and struck a reef as it left. A Kosraean swam out and saved the crew; most of the sailors went home on another whaler, but three mates and a Pacific Islander built a small vessel, the Flying Fox, from the wreck and sailed it to Hong Kong.
