Colonel Isidro Soto’s relief expedition (named Gutiérrez Soto or Pérez de Soto) arrives from Manila.

What happened

The expedition of about 400 men sailed from Manila on 15 August. After a failed march overland, it landed at Palitipao on 16 September, where, Moya writes, the colonel shot himself that night; on 19 September the troops stormed Ohwa, and Moya says the Madolenihmw chief Chaulik was killed in the trenches. Moya names the colonel Isidro Pérez de Soto; other literature calls him Gutiérrez Soto.
