What happened

St. Joseph’s in Awak, in U, was built under an agreement with the Soulik of Awak and staffed by Fr. Luis and Br. Sebastián. Awak became a Catholic stronghold, and in 1898 it was attacked by forces from Mwahnd, Madolenihmw, U and Kitti.
