A Spanish count finds 15 Japanese traders in Chuuk.
What happened
Japanese trading firms had set up stations in Chuuk and Pohnpei in the early 1890s, with Koben Mori as a resident agent. The figure of fifteen rests on Wikipedia, which also cites an 1899 census of 30 Japanese nationals in the Carolines, most in Pohnpei, Chuuk and Palau.
