What happened

By the end of 1897 some of the highest chiefs of every Pohnpeian chiefdom except Madolenihmw had become Catholic, and yearly baptisms passed 100. Madolenihmw’s Nahnmwarki, Paul, still distrusted the Spanish and refused any Catholic mission.
