The Nahnmwarki of Kitti and his family become Catholic, with Governor Miguel Velasco as sponsor.

What happened

The Nahnmwarki of Kitti had backed the Catholic mission since 1887, partly as a counterweight to his Protestant rival Henry Nanpei. Governor Miguel Velasco served as godfather and gave the couple clothes and two gold rings, and the whole Spanish community, the Nahnmwarki of U and the head of the Catholic mission in the Gilbert and Marshall Islands attended.
