Spanish law authorizes ceding the Carolines, Palau and the Marianas except Guam for 25 million pesetas.
What happened
This law gave the Spanish government permission to sell what remained of its Pacific islands to Germany. Guam was left out because the United States had taken it in 1898. The official text also promised Spanish missions and firms equal treatment under German rule, and the price of 25 million pesetas matches the treaty text published earlier in June.
