Fr. Agustín de Arínez dies on Pohnpei; the Capuchins suspect poisoning.

What happened

Fr. Agustín was one of the most experienced Spanish Capuchins on Pohnpei: he had been pastor at Aleniang in Kitti, then mission superior, and in 1892 he published a Spanish–Pohnpeian dictionary with over 3,500 entries. He fell ill after treatment by a Spanish medical officer and died two days later. His fellow missionaries believed he was poisoned, possibly because he had spoken out strongly against Spanish abuses; this was their suspicion, not a proven fact.
