The first German Capuchin contingent of seven arrives.
What happened
The group was led by Fr. Venantius Duffner, superior on Pohnpei and administrator of the whole Caroline mission, who settled in Kolonia. The handover was quick: within months four of the six remaining Spanish Capuchins left. The Germans bought seven hectares in Kolonia, the site of today’s mission, and took over four schools with 125 pupils.
