During the post-typhoon famine, Pohnpeians finally surrender many, not all, guns in exchange for food relief.
What happened
Germany had disarmed Chuuk in 1903, but Pohnpeians refused to give up their firearms until the 1905 typhoon left them short of food. Even then they handed over many, but not all, of their guns.
Why it matters
Because disarmament stayed partial, the Sokehs fighters of 1910 were still armed with many rifles.
