What happened

Fr. Gebhard worked with help from the Hartmann and Hallers families and from Felix Muritok, an early Mortlockese convert who served as catechist. His school at Fouchuen soon had 90 pupils, so he opened a second one. MicSem calls this period the high point of German mission work in Chuuk.
