FSM History

Ponape Japanese elementary school and the native public school at U are founded.

What happened

Japanese rule ran two school systems: elementary schools for Japanese children following the home curriculum, and public schools (kōgakkō) for islanders with a three-year course, taught mainly by Japanese teachers and focused on the Japanese language. Kolonia’s islander school dated from 1922; the U school extended the system on Pohnpei. The details come from Japanese Wikipedia.
