Super Typhoon Ophelia, after killing 14 on Jaluit (Marshalls) on 7 Jan, damaged weather stations on Ponape, Truk and Yap, plus Ponape crops and homes.

What happened

Ophelia struck Ponape on 10 January and Truk on 11 January, then strengthened again to hit Yap. A Lee Ling page notes that it also damaged crops and homes on Pohnpei. Nine more people died when a US Air Force weather plane crashed while flying into the storm.
