Truk declared cholera-free, but 84 new cases are confirmed 18 July–6 September.

What happened

Health officials blamed the new cases on the rainy season, which flooded wells. Most were on Moen (now Weno), schools reopened late, and Truk asked the other states to lend a lab technician and six nurses. Dr. Eliuel Pretrick reported that the new wave had not reached epidemic levels.
