Yosiwo P. George succeeds Jacob Nena as Kosrae governor (to 14 Jan 1991).
What happened
Yosiwo George had been Kosrae’s first lieutenant governor since 1979. While he was governor, Kosrae wrote and adopted its own constitution, and he was sworn in again under it in January 1984.
Why it matters
George later served as FSM vice president from 2015 until he died in office in 2022.
