Pohnpei constitution referendum passes with 59 percent (declared 9 Oct).

What happened

Governor Moses declared the constitution ratified on 9 October, and it took effect on 8 November 1984. Under it, the state’s name changed from Ponape to Pohnpei, and Pohnpei became the third state with its own constitution, after Yap and Kosrae.
