Mwoakilloa (formerly Mokil) implements its constitution and inaugurates its airstrip.

What happened

The new constitution changed the official spelling from Mokil to Mwoakilloa, after a referendum on 21 April. Vice President Hirosi Ismael praised residents for their work on the airstrip, done by hand without machinery. It was the third Pohnpei outer island to adopt a municipal constitution, after Pingelap and Sapwuahfik in 1985.
