FSM and Fiji announce diplomatic relations simultaneously from Pohnpei and Suva.

What happened

The two governments released the joint announcement at noon in both capitals. Within months the FSM set up an embassy in Suva, planned to open in March 1989 under Alik L. Alik of Kosrae as chargé d’affaires.
