President Haglelgam attends Emperor Showa’s state funeral in Japan, returning 27 February.

What happened

Haglelgam represented the FSM at Emperor Hirohito’s state funeral in Tokyo and had a 30-minute audience with the new Emperor and Empress. The FSM and Japan had established diplomatic relations only weeks earlier, in December 1988.
