College of Micronesia-FSM is created as a public corporation.

What happened

The college grew out of the Micronesian Teacher Education Center (1963) and the Community College of Micronesia (1970), which became part of a College of Micronesia system in 1975. Becoming a public corporation was the first step toward a separate national college; it left the regional system in 1993 and moved its national campus to Palikir in 1996.
