What happened

The Habele wiki says the official reason was “administrative deficiencies” in the Chuuk State Election Commission, such as ballot shortages and funding problems; Pacific Island Times says the governor cited the need for “greater citizen awareness.” No new date was set at the time.

Why it matters

It was the first of several postponements; later delays came in 2018 and 2020, and the vote still had no date in 2025.
