Typhoon Maysak hits Chuuk Lagoon, then Ulithi and Fais. Five deaths and about 35,000 affected; most Ulithi homes destroyed.

What happened

Maysak came ashore in Chuuk Lagoon on 29 March and hit Ulithi on 1 April as a super typhoon. The president declared an emergency for both states on 30 March, the FSM released $1.5 million for food, water and supplies, and USAID added over $2 million. IFRC reports differ on whether the five deaths were in Chuuk or Yap; the final report puts them in Yap.
