National COVID-19 public health emergency declared; borders stay closed for about 2.5 years.
What happened
The declaration put the whole country under a public health emergency. Through later orders the borders stayed shut for about two and a half years, and few Micronesians stranded abroad could get home. The FSM kept the virus out of its communities until July 2022.
