Cheyne returns in the Black River Packet to set up trade on Yap with partner Edward Woodin.
What happened
Andrew Cheyne, who had left Yap under threat in 1843, returned with his partner Edward Woodin to set up a bêche-de-mer trade and kept visiting until his death in 1866. Hezel says Cheyne and Alfred Tetens were the first foreigners to visit Yap regularly, and both were attacked there.
